Telltale Games has released a new developer diary for The Expanse, discussing how the narrative of the game has been built, and some of the issues you will deal with. As previously revealed, The Expanse will follow the story of Camina Drummer before the events of the TV series, where she has her own crew, ship, and all the issues that entails.
The Expanse has its own cast of characters separate from the show, who will be an integral part of Camina’s backstory. Each character has their own values and perspectives on events, which will lead to some conflict. Telltale Games has also confirmed that every character, except Camina, can die based on the decisions you make. Make the right choices and perhaps everyone will live instead. When it comes to choices, Telltale Games wants players to agonise over some of them, sitting down and really thinking the actions through. In other choices players will have to trust a gut feeling.
Two characters were highlighted in the developer diary aside from Carina. The first is Maya, the ship’s engineer, who is a former Martian Marine. Players will learn her story as the series continues but one of the things we do know is that she has a frontier like spirit. The other character is Virgil. He is a person with a dark past, one that if Camina finds out about will cause issues, but he is trying to be a good person. He has a lot to hide from the rest of the crew and it seems he would like to avoid trouble where he can so his secrets are safe.
Telltale Games has announced that episode one of The Expanse: A Telltale Series will launch on 27th July 2023 across PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, Xbox One and PC. The following four episodes will release every two weeks after launch, so no more long waits for
