Showrunner Eric Kripke teases when fans will finally see the first trailer for the third season of The Boys. Amazon Prime Video's R-rated superhero show has become a huge hit over its first two seasons. Although The Boys season 3 was announced even before the second season debuted, COVID-19 complicated filming the highly anticipated return of Billy Butcher (Karl Urban) and Hughie Campbell (Jack Quaid). However, the cast and crew powered through the pandemic to wrap filming in the fall of 2021, putting the show on track for a 2022 return.
The Boys season 3 is expected to once again feature plenty of outlandish setpieces and socially and politically relevant topics, but specific story details are still largely under wraps. Audiences know that Homelander (Antony Starr) will be a bit more on edge than usual, and it seems that Starlight (Erin Moriarty) is taking over as the leader of Vought's superhero team, the Seven. While Billy and Hughie will also return alongside the other members of The Boys, season 3 is also confirmed to adapt the famous Herogasm event from the Garth Ennis and Darrick Robertson comics the show is based on.

The Boys has built up quite a fanbase since its premiere, and many viewers are eager to know when they'll see more. Thankfully, showrunner Eric Kripke gave an update on the status of the new season on Twitter. He revealed that half of the season is mixed and that a lot of VFX work still needs to be done. However, Kripke also confirmed that the first The Boys season 3 trailer has been finished and will be released in a few weeks. The first three episodes of the new season officially drop on Amazon Prime Video on June 3,
