A Nintendo Switch home screen concept shows just how much better the Switch’s UI can potentially be. The Nintendo Switch is one of Nintendo’s most successful consoles to date, even competing with the highly successful Nintendo Wii. But one criticism that has remained since launch is the UI and lack of themes on the home screen.
Nintendo home screens have varied from console to console. The Wii’s home screen is well known for its simplicity, but unlike the Switch, it has some background music to along with it. The 3DS also introduced system themes based on Nintendo’s various IPs. PlayStation has used themes ever since the PS3, yet Nintendo home consoles haven’t adopted these types of themes as of yet. Hence, many fans criticize the plainness of the Switch’s home screen and the lack of theme options.

Reddit user demotivatedhomo’s Switch home screen mock-up has gained positive reception. The UI resembles the PlayStation UI in some forms with the game library being at the bottom and the other settings being at the top. This UI is praised in the comments for its simplicity and not being overly designed, yet still aesthetically pleasing. It shows that even a concept home screen such as this would go some way towards enhancing the Switch experience.
This is far from the first fan concept of Switch home screens, as many other fans have come up with their own designs.
