Tekken 8 has been officially announced and the first gameplay premiered.
Shown during a PlayStation State of Play live stream on Tuesday, the gameplay showed off Jin vs Kazuya fighting on the side of a volcano.
“In the trailer, you can see this level of quality in the newly created playable character models that completely sets itself apart from the current Tekken 7, and in little details like how water droplets run down the character’s skin,” wrote Tekken boss Katsuhiro Harada.
“This is not footage created solely for trailer purposes, but an actual real-time rendering of what is happening on the game screen.”
The game was first teased at Evo 2022 when a brief clip of Kazuya was shown as part of the stream.
Although the teaser didn’t explicitly state that it was for Tekken 8, there hasn’t been a new Tekken game for seven years so a new one is due.
Tekken 7 was released in 2015 and has been receiving regular DLC updates since then.
