There is only one day left until The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom launches to very probable domination of the bestseller lists. Review embargo is up and from the looks of things Nintendo's follow-up to Breath of the Wild has been worth the wait.
Here at TheGamer, our lead features editor Jade King awarded the title our highest possible score, a full 5/5, saying that it is a "masterpiece that not only equals what came before, it does everything in its power to surpass it". However, not all reviews have been so glowing, one outlet has awarded Tears of the Kingdom 6/10, while in a technical review the game was found wanting too.

Uber geeks, and technical wizards, Digital Foundry put Tears of the Kingdom through its paces, with the analysts looking hard at the game's technical aspects. Identifying the significance of Zelda to the medium, since it has become known for "constantly reinventing itself", pushing new ideas and video games forward, Breath of the Wild was no different. While the Nintendo Switch is firmly no longer pushing hardware limits, it's true that previous titles, such as Ocarina of Time on the N64, extended the imaginations of game development. But does Tears of the Kingdom extend on the performance of its predecessor?
It's a good question because Breath of the Wild was limited in some ways. That game was constrained by the Wii U while Tears of the Kingdom does not have that older console in mind.
