Another day, another Tears of the Kingdom discovery. This time, we are looking at one of the more annoying creatures in the game, Rock Octoroks. Turns out, they are useful for more than slapping you in the back of the head as you travel through rocky terrain. These stony guys can help improve the durability of your weapons.
Over on Twitter, the place for Tears of the Kingdom tips, tricks, and Korok torture videos, one player is sharing a neat trick when dealing with Rock Octoroks. User @TristanACooper shared a video where they throw a weakened Soldier III Spear into the enemy’s mouth. The octopus-like monster chows down on the spear, then spits it back out. When picked up, the spear is fully repaired and given a Critical Hit buff.

Breath of the Wild players may remember a similar trick with the Octoroks. You could throw a rusty weapon into the monster’s gullet, and it would come out rust free. However, you didn’t get the repair or stat bonus that Tears of the kingdom is offering. Is this a sign that those eight-legged cephalopods are secretly trying to help Link stop Ganon? Probably not but it is still extremely helpful so I’m not going to knock it.
Speaking of knocking, do be careful when attempting to get a sword deep into an Octorok's throat. In the video shared on Twitter, the player is just a little slow in getting out of the way of the newly fixed spear and it knocks into Link for a killing blow. Thankfully, the player had a fairy on hand for such a scenario.
