Tarisland will hold its second closed beta starting on November 15th. The team has a new dev video with a behind the scenes interview with insight into the inspirations behind the game, memorable experiences, and love for the MMORPG genre.
This round of beta is set to begin on November 15th on PC and Android in several regions. Players in Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Europe, North America, and Southeast Asia can join the test in several supported languages.
In the dev interview, Guoshi, Locojoy CEO says they decided to make an MMORPG out of love for RPGs and MMORPGs, and for the memorable experiences playing them with friends. So the team set out to create their own vision, since as the CEO says, they wanted those to be more than just memories.
The game’s director, Yangmin, also talks about the power of creating a character and finding others you get along with, make friends, and have people to team up with for exploration, dungeons, and more. Overall, the ability for people to make friends and even emotional bonds through MMO play is part of the inspiration grounding their work.
Tarisland is built on a concept of “the world as it should be”, and this informs various aspects of development. Understanding the MMORPG genre means you need a big enough world to support engaging lore, options for people to explore, and things to do together. The team drew inspiration from a number of classic books, TV shows, films, and other games to create their Western-inspired fantasy world.
There’s a lot more in the full dev video, including more on development, intentionally creating cross-platform MMORPG, the recently announced hire of music producer and composer Russell Brower to score the game, and much more of their philosophy.
