Taika Waititi opens up about not including Natalie Portman's Jane Foster/Mighty Thor in Thor: Ragnarok. The director returns to the MCU and reteams with Chris Hemsworth for Thor: Love and Thunder. The next Marvel Studios movie is only two weeks away from hitting theaters and fans are all geared up to see how the movie impacts the franchise.
Brining back Waititi after the success of Thor: Ragnarok only made sense for Marvel Studios. The 2017 film revitalized the whole Thor franchise; the filmmaker drastically changed the moody look of the film series, replacing it with a vibrant palette reminiscent of Jack Kirby's comic spreads. The God of Thunder himself underwent a physical and characteristic overhaul to reflect this significant turning point in his MCU journey. As part of rewriting the hero, Thor: Ragnarok pretty much got rid of everything that came before it with regard to the Avenger, which included his romance with Jane Foster. But instead of seeing Portman's character back for a proper break-up, she was only briefly referenced to establish her split with the Asgardian prince.

Speaking with Variety during theThor: Love and Thunder premiere, Waititi opens up about not bringing back Jane Foster in Thor: Ragnarok. The director references Jason Aaron's Mighty Thor run as something that stood out for him. He admits he wanted to incorporate that in the 2017 film, but wasn't able to.
