T-Mobile has launched two new affordable 5G smartphones called the REVVL 6 and REVVL 6 Pro. 5G is becoming more widespread in the U.S., thanks to AT&T, T-Mobile and Verizon launching their own 5G networks across most of the country. As for T-Mobile, the carrier's mid-band 2.5 GHz deployment reached 200 million people last year, with plans to reach 300 million by the end of this year. However, many customers remain underwhelmed by 5G services, with complaints about mmWave's reliability and sub-6 networks' speed continuing to plague carriers as they move ahead with their deployment plans.
Meanwhile, as the carriers are moving full-steam ahead with their 5G networks, they're also shutting down their 3G services. AT&T officially shut down its 3G network on Feb. 22, 2022, while Sprint's 3G network was shut down on May 31, 2022. T-Mobile killed off its own 3G network earlier this month, while Verizon is scheduled to do so by Dec. 31, 2022. US Cellular continues to operate a 3G network but has announced that it also plans to shut it down at some stage. With 3G networks fast becoming history, the carriers are offering users who are still hanging on to 3G phones a free upgrade to a 4G or 5G device.
