Prime Video has released a number of new images from Sylvester Stallone’s upcoming superhero movie, Samaritan. Best known for his Oscar-winning performance in the 1976 boxing drama Rocky, Stallone has previously enjoyed outings in both the MCU as Stakar Ogord in Guardians of the Galaxy 2 and the DCEU as King Shark in The Suicide Squad. Undertaking his first starring comic book role in Samaritan, Stallone plays a retired superhero whose teenage neighbor Sam (Javon Walton) makes it his mission to coax him out of hiding.
Now, Prime Video has unveiled several new images from Samaritan as the release date draws closer. Similar to previously released images, Stallone’s character, Mr. Smith, is depicted wearing entirely unassuming civilian clothing, including jeans and a hoodie. Hinting at his superpowered nature, however, one of the images shows Smith effortlessly throwing away a group of boys while a newly released poster shows a blurred glimpse at his superhero alter-ego in the reflection of a puddle. Additional castmates include Dascha Polanco (In the Heights), Moises Arias (The King of Staten Island), Martin Starr (Spider-Man: No Way Home), Jared Odrick, Michael Aaron Milligan, and Deacon Randle. Helmed by Julius Avery (Overlord) and penned by Bragi F. Schut, Samaritan is officially set to debut on Amazon Prime on August 26.
