A new piece of Madame Web fan art imagines Sydney Sweeney as a live-action Spider-Gwen in Sony’s universe. One of Sweeney’s very first acting roles was in NBC’s superhero show, Heroes, back in 2019. The actor went on to cultivate an extensive filmography of supporting roles in projects like Everything Sucks, The Handmaid's Tale, and Sharp Objects. Since then, Sweeney has blown up thanks to her portrayal of Cassie Howard in HBO’s Euphoria, and Olivia Mossbacher in The White Lotus. Now, the actress is set to join Sony’s Marvel Universe of Spider-Man characters.
In February, it was announced that Dakota Johnson would star as Julia Carpenter/Madame Web in Sony’s next Spider-Man spinoff movie. Madame Web will be directed by S.J. Clarkson (The Defenders) with a screenplay by Sazama and Burk Sharpless (Morbius). Last week, it was reported that Johnson had her first Madame Web co-star in Sweeney. However, her role has not yet been revealed and speculation online continues to run rampant about who the Euphoria star could be playing.
