Fresh off the success of Euphoria season 2, Sydney Sweeney is now set to star in the upcoming Spider-Man spin-off, Madame Web. Official news on the film's progress came earlier this year when it was reported that Sony had cast Dakota Johnson as the titular role. S.J. Clarkson (The Defenders) will be directing the project, with the most recent screenplay being penned by Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless, the writing duo behind Morbius.
It's fitting that Sweeney will be taking part in a new superhero film, though, as her first acting role was in the hit TV show, Heroes. A somewhat underrated talent until recently, Sweeney has amassed a wealth of credits to her name after only being in the business for little more than a decade. Going from small parts to the main ensemble in 2018's Everything Sucks, reoccurring roles in highly acclaimed series' soon followed, including The Handmaid's Tale and Sharp Objects. But it was HBO's Euphoria that displayedSweeney's incredible emotional range as Cassie Howard, and her force of talent was further solidified playing Olivia Mossbacher in The White Lotus.

In an unsurprising and seriously warranted turn of events, Deadline reports that Sydney Sweeney would be joining the Madam Web film, adding Marvel to her growing repertoire of high-profile projects. The article stated that the actress has allegedly been weighing several different offers but could not pass up the opportunity to join what looks to be the Marvel universe's first female-centric film.
