A new has come from a recent report from Deadline, which claims that director and co-CEO of DC Studios James Gunn has begun looking for the main characters of the film.
In its Superman: Legacy casting update, Deadline notes that for the past several weeks, talent has been submitting audition tapes for some of the biggest roles in the film, including Clark Kent/Superman, Lois Lane, and Lex Luthor.
While there are no big steps in the process yet, Deadline notes that a handful of big stars are in the mix for Superman, including Nicholas Hoult, David Corenswet, Jacob Elordi, and Andrew Richardson, just to name a few.
For Lois, Deadline notes that Emma Mackey, Rachel Brosnahan, Phoebe Dynevor, and Samara Weaving are a handful of actresses who have been testing for Lois Lane. As for Lex Luthor, Gunn has reportedly been looking at a variety of “A-list names” for the role but has also been looking for the role of someone titled “Apex,” which could lead to the possible inclusion of Apex Lex Luthor from the comics, a superpowered version of the villain, according to Deadline.
In a recent tweet, Gunn spoke on the rumors of the Superman: Legacy casting, noting that he would never comment on who is or isn’t involved. Gunnd did note that for now, just one person has been officially cast in the film, and it isn’t any regulars from the world of Superman.
“Superman: Legacy tells the story of Superman’s journey to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his human upbringing as Clark Kent of Smallville, Kansas,” reads the movie’s official synopsis. “He is the embodiment of truth, justice and the American way, guided by human kindness in a world that sees kindness as old-fashioned.”
