You probably know this if you spend any amount of time on TheGamer dot com, but I’ve been playing a lot of MultiVersus lately. Like, a lot. Like pages on the calendar falling off at a comically rapid pace levels. Like - okay you get the picture. In the more than 26 hours I’ve spent with MultiVersus so far, I’ve mostly played with a few select characters, specifically Bugs Bunny and Batman, who I consider to be my mains and the fighters I can usually bet on winning a match with.
But there’s one character who rises above the rest, which isn’t too surprising given my love for the series - Steven Universe. After getting him to Level 15 recently and christening him as my one true main, it’s clear, without a shadow of a doubt, that he’s MultiVersus’ most overlooked fighter. One with some of the most interesting moves and setup possibilities, and a fighter that most players simply have no idea how to react to, mostly because it seems like no one else is interested in playing as him in the first place.

I’ve even fought a few rare Tom and Jerry mains out there. Do you know how many Steven Universe players I’ve come up against? Zero. Nada. Zilch. Our boy deserves better.
It’s not too surprising considering the hefty 3,000 price tag and ‘Expert label slapped on Steven’s name, but it’s a massive shame because while all the normies are practising Finn’s backpack swing and basically just being massive dicks, they’re missing out on a character that has even more troll potential than even Bugs
