At the top of Steam's most wishlisted games chart sits an open-world survival MMO called The Day Before. And for the mass of PC gamers who are waiting to play it, developer Fntastic has some bad news: it's being delayed until March 2023.
Epic Games recently released Unreal Engine 5 with the promise of super-realistic game graphics. Fntastic couldn't fail to notice and as IGN reports, decided it was worth delaying The Day Before in order to take advantage of the new engine.
In a statement Fntastic said, "were pleased to announce that The Day Before is switching to the new Unreal Engine 5 technology! The transition to a more advanced and adapted open worlds engine, will make the gameplay of The Day Before even more fantastic." The team also knows "the great responsibility that we face" because they have so many Steam users waiting to play the game.
The Day Before was originally scheduled for release on June 21, but with the switch to Unreal Engine 5, Fntastic pushed the launch date back to March 1 next year. After seeing what Epic's latest game engine is capable of, I suspect the game delay will only see more people wishlist this title in anticipation.
