Sega Is Releasing "Multiple" Remasters, Remakes, And New Games Before March 2023
Sega Sammy, parent company of Sega Corporation, recently held its year-end presentation for its previous financial year. Sega Sammy reported exceptional sales from Sega Corporation, noting increased profits compared to its 2021 financial year, and plans to continue that trend into 2023.
As noted by VGC, the forecast is based on a “significant increase in titles” set to release next year compared to the current year. Sega plans to release 13 new titles (compared to seven released this past year), and it plans to increase its sales volume from 6 million units to 13 million units.

Of those games, "multiple" will be categorized under "remake / remaster, spinoff [or] change of theme." Sega sold around four million titles that fell under this category of the six million total games sold this past financial year, which included Sonic Colors Ultimate, Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania, and Lost Judgment (a Yakuza spinoff).
This financial year, Sega predicts it will sell five million games in this category, starting with Sonic Origins. Announced last month, Origins plans to remaster Sonic 1, 2, 3, and Sonic & Knuckles, releasing on all major platforms in June.
Sonic isn't the only franchise getting remastered, rebooted, or spunoff. A recent Bloomberg report stated Sega's Super Game initiative plans to bring back both Crazy Taxi and Jet Set Radio. The Crazy Taxi reboot has reportedly been in development for a year, although the report stressed that both are still in the very earliest stages of development and could be canceled.
