Some fans are drawing a new theory about Starfield’s release date based on a historical Easter egg found in the latest gameplay trailer. Fallout and Skyrim developer Bethesda Game Studios announced Starfield during its panel at E3 2018, and since then the space-themed project has gained attention as the first fully original IP Bethesda has developed in over twenty-five years and the first major release to come after Bethesda was purchased by Xbox Game Studios last March. Starfield will be set in a future divided by a galaxy-spanning war, with players exploring a vast frontier called The Settled Systems in the aftermath of this conflict.
More details about Starfield were unveiled during June’s Xbox Games Showcase livestream at Summer Game Fest, where Bethesda released an awe-inspiring gameplay trailer that highlighted how players would be able to build their own custom ships to explore the nearly 1,000 different planets that compose the game's Settled Systems. Along the way, players will interact with NPCs from a first-person perspective, and Starfield is doing away with the controversial voice-acting for the main character that was introduced in Fallout 4. On the other hand, Starfield will expand upon Fallout 4’s best feature (settlement building), and allow would-be space explorers to build their own interplanetary settlements across the 996 worlds that don’t already have major cities or other populated areas.
