In the future, Starfield players may be able to build their own space station outposts, judging from some information that was recently uncovered within the game's files.
Reddit user afonsolage took a good look at the decompiled Papyrus scripts for the game and has discovered a file called outpoststarstationactorscript which features some interesting properties that suggest that it will be possible to build and customize star stations. Going by the properties, among the things that will be possible if the feature is implemented in the game will be to own a start station in some planet orbit, build modules to customize it, manage the star station power and resources, and assign ships to defend the start station, which will be visible flying around it. These mechanics will also apparently get unlocked after completing a quest involving managing traffic around a star station.
Given how Starfield is going to be supported in the future with new content, it wouldn't be surprising to see space station outposts building be one of the additions included in future DLCs. As Bethesda has yet to talk about what's coming next for their open-world RPG, we shouldn't assume these features outlined above are indeed coming to the game.
