We got to see some actual gameplay from Starfield on Sunday, as well as a look at both the ship and character creators. The game is bringing forward traits from Fallout New Vegas that come with pros and cons. Some are fairly simple, but others are a bit more weird, like the Alien DNA trait.
GamesRadar has listed all of the traits we saw, as well as what some of them do. Unfortunately, we don't know what they all do at the moment, but we've got eight out of 16, not a bad start.

The traits are:
To cover what we know first, Introvert gives you a boost when venturing out into the stars alone, and a debuff when you're with others. Extrovert probably does the opposite. Kid Stuff means you're able to visit your folks at home, but also ten percent of your money is theirs. There's also the Starter Home trait which gives you a house on a "peaceful moon," but also saddles you with a mortgage, a feature brought back from Daggerfall.
As well as these personality traits and investment decisions, there are also several traits that craft a backstory for your character. Raised Enlightened, Raised Universal, and Serpent's Embrace are all religious traits that can't be mixed and matched.
Spaced gives bonuses to health and endurance when characters are in space and debuffs when they're on the surface. This implies space combat and traversal outside of the cockpit are going to be in Starfield.
Neon Street Rat is a Faction Allegiance trait that gives you special dialogue options and different rewards for completing missions from Neon. Like the religious traits, this can't be mixed with any other faction allegiance ones.
