The director behind the upcoming Star Wars Jedi: Survivor recently spoke up about Respawn’s plans for the next Star Wars action title, including how Jedi outcast Cal Kestis and his helpful droid companion BD-1 will continue their special friendship. After months of speculation by fans, a new trailer for the sequel to 2019’s hit Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order was shown off at Star Wars Celebration 2022, showing Cal on the run from Imperial forces once again as an ominous figure watches him from the shadows.
While this weekend’s Star Wars Jedi: Survivor teaser trailer was brief and didn’t show the game’s full cast, it is expected that Cal’s small-but-growing circle of friends and allies will show up to lend their support once again — including the small BD-1 droid that followed him along throughout Fallen Order. Having served Jedi Master Eno Cordova during the waning years of the Old Republic, BD-1 is discovered by Cal near the ruins of the Zeffo Vault on Bogano in Fallen Order’s opening hours. From there, the cute and dependable droid provides valuable intel for Cal and his friends as they set out to uncover the remnants of the fallen Jedi Order, serves as a sort of health meter for players, and even gives Cal healing stims to replenish his health during his dangerous mission. BD-1 quickly became popular among players following Fallen Order’s release in 2019, so much so that LEGO recently revealed a LEGO Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order set in the droid’s likeness.
