Star Wars: The Clone Wars voice actor Matt Lanter recently underwent major emergency surgery. Starting with The Clones Wars cartoon film in 2008, Lanter has provided the voice of Anakin Skywalker in many Star Wars animated projects including The Clone Wars series, Rebels, and Forces of Destiny. He has also appeared in the role in various video games throughout the years. In addition to his Star Wars role, Lanter has consistently provided the voice of Aquaman in all but one of the character's speaking roles in the direct-to-video DC Animated Movie Universe.
Lanter's most recent role was in the live-action Netflix series Jupiter's Legacy, based on the comic of the same name, a drama about a team of superheroes called the Union of Justice. Lanter stars as the super-powered George Hutchence/Skyfox, a founding member of the Union and best friend to the team's leader and Superman archetype, The Utopian (Josh Duhamel). After a falling out, George's whereabouts are unknown, but it is later revealed that Skyfox has become a villain. Unfortunately, in 2021, Netflix announced that Jupiter's Legacyhas not been renewed for a second season.

Lanter's wife Angela broke the news that the actor was rushed to the hospital on the evening of March 22 for a medical emergency. Earlier in the day, Lanter suffered from intense abdominal pain as a result of a closed-loop intestinal blockage, a condition caused by a twist in the small intestine. If left untreated, the blockage can lead to serious complications. After diagnosis, the actor was immediately rushed into emergency surgery.
