Aspyr has released the first major update for . While the update fixes over 40 issues, including a 19-year-old bug from the original titles, it neglects the main problem the new collection has been experiencing since its disastrous launch.
Aspyr's patch notes confirmed a fix for an issue had back at its 2005 launch in which Republic and Rebel factions lost two reinforcements instead of one every time one of them died on the Death Star. This was the only level in which this happened, and it didn't occur for the Empire and CIS factions, giving them an advantage. While PC players originally used mods to fix this in the previous titles, PlayStation and Xbox players have had to endure this imbalance for nearly two decades.
Update 1 is available now on Steam, and will be coming to PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo consoles once the submission and certification process has been completed.
While the 40 fixes for control schemes, visuals, Hero Assault's bonus characters Kit Fisto and Asajj Ventress, audio, and more are a good start to getting back on track, there are only three fixes noted for Multiplayer, which are listed below:
still sits at an «Overwhelmingly Negative» review score on Steam, however, with many players still expressing frustration with the game's multiplayer. At launch, over 10,000 players tried to access, which the game wasn't prepared for as only three multiplayer servers were online at the time. Each server only allowed up to 64 players, coming to a total of just 192 spaces available.
Aspyr did add more servers since launch, and the Update 1 patch notes did state that it's "", but with one of the major selling points for the title being the return of its beloved multiplayer modes, it's understandable that players are frustrated with the lack of new fixes for these modes in Update 1. Hopefully, Update 2 — which Aspyr is currently planning — will focus more on this side of the game to get the overall experience back on track.
