Paramount has renewed Star Trek: Strange New Worlds for season 2 ahead of the series premiere. Spinning off from the events of Star Trek: Discovery season 2, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds will follow the crew of the USS Enterprise under the leadership of Captain Christopher Pike (Anson Mount), Science Officer Spock (Ethan Peck), and First Officer named Number One (Rebecca Romijn). The series is a prequel to Star Trek: The Original Series, taking place about a decade before Captain Kirk becomes captain of the Enterprise.
The series is set to tie heavily in with Star Trek: The Original Series as it will also feature Nyota Uhura (Celia Rose Gooding) and Christine Chapel (Jess Bush), as well as a new character named La'an Noonien-Singh (Christina Chong), who likely has a connection to popular Star Trek villain Khan Noonien-Singh. The series is set to be closer in tone to the original series, showcased by the classic, colorful uniforms commonly associated with the Star Trek franchise. It has been heavily anticipated since it was announced, and it appears now that Star Trek fans will have a lot more to look forward to.
