Astro Bot, the second full-fledged title featuring the de facto PlayStation mascot, launches on Sep. 6, and to commemorate the occasion, PlayStation is launching a limited edition DualSense controller fashioned after the blue-eyed bot. Pre-orders for the $79.99 controller will open on Aug. 8 and will be available to reserve from PlayStation and other select retailers ahead of the Sep. 6 launch.
The custom controller includes blue accents on the handles and buttons, as well as some additional carved-in sci-fi accents on the grips and around the analog sticks. However, the most obvious change is the addition of a pair of blue eyes seated in the middle of the touchpad. While the eyes, unfortunately, can’t change their expression based on your gameplay, their presence still lends a strangely emotive quality to the otherwise lifeless peripheral.
In addition to its new theme, the limited edition controller includes the same features found on the standard DualSense controller, like motion controls, haptic feedback that can replicate textures in certain environments, and adaptive triggers to simulate tension and resistance.
The new controller isn’t available to pre-order just yet, but we’ll update this page as soon as that changes.
