Kelvin will complete the tasks asked of him, though players also have to ask him to take breaks periodically if they want to get the most out of his labor. Kelvin has become quite popular in the Sons of the Forest community for his hilarious thumbs up reactions after completing tasks, even when said task has clearly ended in disaster.

An example of this was seen in a stream by Twitch streamer SWOL, also known as superswoldier on TikTok. In the clip, SWOL can be seen building a treehouse shelter in Sons of the Forest, but decides to let Kelvin finish the job. SWOL gives Kelvin the instruction to finish building the Sons of the Forest structure. After receiving the instructions, Kelvin begins hitting the tree with an axe. This causes the entire structure to collapse, with massive logs falling down on the player and Kelvin. Kelvin stands amid the fallen logs and gives a thumbs up before sitting down and taking a break among the wreckage.
It's possible that Kelvin's erratic behavior will be refined over time. Sons of the Forest is an early access game, and so the developers will be releasing regular updates to improve the overall experience.
