A new for Sega‘s upcoming 2D Sonic the Hedgehog game has been released, showing off the title‘s multiplayer and giving a release date. The release date for Sonic Frontiers‘ upcoming story DLC was also revealed.
The Sonic Superstars trailer shows various different ways that four people can play the game together, with Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, and Amy all taking part in different co-op modes. It then reveals that the game will launch on Tuesday, October 17.

With another brief video, Sega also announced that Sonic Frontiers’ free story DLC — titled Sonic Frontiers: The Final Horizon — will release on Thursday, September 28. The video shows Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Amy, Eggman, and Sage facing off against a large opponent. The DLC will feature a new story, new playable characters, and “new challenges.”

Set to release both physically and digitally on PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC on Tuesday, October 17, Sonic Superstars lets you play as Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, and Amy Rose.
Eggman is accompanied by Fang the Sniper, who first appeared in Sonic the Hedgehog Triple Trouble in 1994. The character has primarily appeared in cameo roles in games like Sonic Generations and Sonic Mania in the years since.
