While Dr. Eggman aka Robotnik will always be Sonic the Hedgehog's number-one arch nemesis, the Iron Queen Regina Ferrum from Archie Comics' discontinued series truly made the evil mad scientist look quite pathetic.
Fans might remember Regina most for being a technomage and for assuming control of the Eggman Empire after Sonic breaks Robotnik's mind in shocking fashion. Regina's reign may only last 10 issues, from Sonic the Hedgehog #201 to #211, but she truly causes the Freedom Fighters major headaches that rival even Dr. Eggman's most diabolical schemes. Her feats include almost killing Sonic's longtime comrade Bunnie Rabbot and taking over their entire city with her technomagic. However, Regina's true claim to fame is her intense history where she amasses power by tricking Dr. Eggman in a more treacherous way than how Eggman manipulated the king of Sonic's people, Maximillion Acorn.

When tragedy befalls Regina and she loses everything, the young technomage is forced to build herself back from scratch to glory, much like Dr. Eggman did. She turns her sights on the Dragon Kingdom and rises to power as queen there. But becoming queen isn't enough. Regina wants to expand her kingdom but can't because of the «free people» and the powerful Four Clans. She embarks on a new plan in Sonic the Hedgehog #207 by writer Ian Flynn, penciler Renae De Liz, inker Terry Austin, colorist Matt Herms and letterer John Workman. Essentially, she convinces Dr. Eggman, who has just conquered the Kingdom of Acorn, to make her and her king his «sub-bosses,» which gives them enough supplies to conquer the free people.
