Sega has shared a brand-new trailer for Sonic Frontiers as part of Tokyo Game Show which revealed a lava-covered island, a new titan boss battle, and playable Super Sonic. While the ambitious title was never quiet about the role the Chaos Emeralds had to play, it was never truly confirmed if players would get to experience Super Sonic in the game's open-world environment. Now, it's one of many things they can look forward to when the game releases.
The Chaos Emeralds are a key part in Sonic Frontiers' story as Sonic and friends reach the mysterious Starfall Islands in search for them as they had vanished completely without a trace. After a wormhole sends them straight onto the surface, the blue blur wakes up and is told by a strange voice to gather the Chaos Emeralds from the vaults. Now with the inclusion of Super Sonic, at least players have a powerful reward for their efforts.

Alongside the small snippet of Super Sonic gameplay fans are treated to, players also get a glimpse of the Sonic Team logo the game starts out with, a look at some new enemies found in the desert Ares Island area, and a strange thin bird-like creature that may play an important part into how the game handles fast-travel.
However, the trailer also has the gameplay reveal of the Titan boss monster that has only appeared in cinematics so far, as well as the appearance of an enemy that aims to steal the Chaos Emeralds back from Sonic after players worked hard to collect them. It also gives players a look at some rather expressive and heart-pounding cutscenes that feature Sonic narrowly dodging being stepped on by the huge robotic boss.
