A new World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King Classic trailer is out on Blizzard’s YouTube channel, and it comes from an unlikely source: a fan and content creator.
Fresh off of their unofficial Black Temple trailer in 2020, Blizzard decided to give Hurricane a shot for an official trailer spot. It showcases the encroaching threat of the army of the dead nicely, while showcasing a ton of in-game Wrath of the Lich King expansion locations that are fitting for an after-the-fact re-release trailer. A lot of key players are present to give the trailer that official feel, and frankly the war itself looks more urgent than it does in the actual game. Lich King players (the millions out there) will likely enjoy seeing some of the nostalgic locations, too.
And it seems like it took a lot of work! For their previous video, here’s how Hurricane did it: “The trailer took 10 months to make and it’s been made entirely in Cinema 4D (meaning no in-game footage has been used). It’s development has been made possible due to the extensive use of the Marlamin’s Export Tools and Jeromnimo’s WoW Model Viewer).
The actual World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King Classic expansion is out on September 26, at 3:00PM PT exactly (which sets the pace for the worldwide launch).
