Sonic Prime, the Netflix show that has just entered its second season, has given us a new take on Metal Sonic. And at first, fans hated him, mostly because he looks nothing like the robotic foe we've known and loved for almost exactly 20 years now. Well, and because his redesign seemed a little rough. However, you shouldn't judge a robot by his cover it seems, because now, fans can't get enough of the guy.
While technically called Chaos Sonic, his robotic appearance instantly draws comparison to Metal Sonic. Now, with the whole second season available on Netflix, those comparisons are finally positive. From his dialogue to his rivalry with Sonic, the new guy has won over the fanbase, quickly becoming everyone's favourite part of Sonic Prime.

This change of heart came about when it was revealed that, unlike Metal Sonic before him, Chaos Sonic is actually pretty damn chatty. He's even bringing some snark back to the series that's very reminiscent of the blue blur's characterisation in the '00s.
Chao Sonic's general asshole-ness has quickly endeared him to the fanbase, as he has the sass that the OG Metal Sonic was clearly lacking. In fact, he's already got fan edits and art being made about him, which isn't bad for a character that everyone was getting ready to hate right out of the gate.
Best of all, Chaos Sonic has the same voice actor as Hedgehog Sonic himself, Deven Mack (side note: my favourite part of season one back when that premiered last year). Mack definitely seems to be having a lot of fun in the role, giving us a new take on Metal Sonic with a boatload more personality than we've ever seen before.
