Sega revealed the Sonic vs. Dr. Eggman's Death Egg Robot LEGO set on the Sonic Central livestream today.
As part of the collaboration between Sega and LEGO, the new 615-piece set brings Eggman's iconic mech from Sonic 2, which comes with a removable capsule that contains the animals (or Flickies, as they're called in Sonic lore) the mad scientist captures, and his badniks. With his mecha suit all powered up, Eggman will be able to face Sonic, who will blast into him with the Speed Sphere and save all the animals.
Dr. Eggman's Death Egg Robot is the fifth set in the LEGO Sonic the Hedgehog series. The first four sets that were previously released include Tails and his Tornado and Amy and her ice cream stand.
"We’re a little over 30 days away from LEGO Sonic hitting shelves, and we’re thrilled to reveal Dr. Eggman’s Death Egg Robot as the fifth entry in our fantastic range of building experiences,” said Frédéric Roland Andre, Designer at the LEGO Group. “Sonic Central is the perfect setting to introduce LEGO and Sonic fans to this amazingly villainous new set, and we can’t wait for Sonic fans of all ages to get their hands on the blue blur in LEGO brick form this summer."
A LEGO-themed expansion pack will also be coming to Sonic Superstars, which comes with free LEGO Sonic and Dr. Eggman skins. However, the exclusive Eggman skin will be available to those who pre-order the game.
The LEGO Sonic vs. Dr. Eggman's Death Egg Robot set will be available August 1. Sonic Superstars will launch in Fall 2023.
