Social MMO Sky: Children of the Light Breaks Guinness World Record
On August 25th, Sky: Children of the Light, known for its social and unique gameplay aspects, made history by setting a new Guinness World Record title for the «Most Users in a Concert-Themed Virtual World.» The record-breaking event was part of the AURORA concert, which saw over 10,000 players attend online and at Gamescom. The team at Thatgamecompany used the concert to showcase the game's technology, in coordination with Amazon Web Services.

The concert was a blend of music, storytelling, and player interaction that culminated in a virtual performance by internationally acclaimed singer, AURORA.
According to a recent press release, Jenova Chen, CEO and creative director of TGC, expressed gratitude to the game's community that coordinated the event, stating, «Our players deserve all the credit that made this record-breaking achievement possible.» The game, known for its unique narrative, unusual social interaction system, and peculiar characters, has amassed over 260 million downloads since its 2019 launch.
