For how technically impressive the scope of The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim can often be, the game isn't completely exempt from glitches or bugs. Ordinarily, glitches are looked down upon by players, but for some, Skyrim has become a rare example of how glitches can add to the experience in a more charming way, as opposed to being intrusive. That being said, there are some bugs that truly break Skyrim in a lot of ways.
Despite Skyrim being populated with a number of technical hiccups, that doesn't necessarily mean the glitches are a hindrance to the experience. In fact, there are actually a fair amount of glitches in Skyrim that are actually helpful to player progression, such as free housing, Shout abilities with no cooldown timer, and many others. Though, this most recent glitch is much more humorous in terms of its application.
Weird Skyrim Glitch Makes It Look Like Rorikstead Has Power Lines
Over on Reddit, a user named Tap-Fair posted a brief gameplay clip of the large ship that players ride in order to get to Solstheim glitching out to the point where it can actually be controlled by the player. The user then proceeds to ride the ship over land and clips right through the ground into various different parts of Solstheim's map that the ship was never meant to reach.
It turns out that, for whatever reason, this glitch only occurs when the Skyrim player is over-encumbered while traveling on the boat. It's likely that the developers did not account for players being over-encumbered while on the boat, and thus, it causes the player to gain complete control of the ship and move it to whichever part of the map they choose.
It's amazing how many glitches there still are in Skyrim. Even after the release of Skyrim: Anniversary
