A couple of days ago, Oblivion turned 16-years-old. Even though the teenage game is one of the best Elder Scrolls entries, according to Metacritic, the vanilla release is certainly showing its age these days. Although there are mods that do improve the visuals, there is a team of modders that has been hard at work for the past several years trying to bring the open world RPG into the modern gaming era using the Skyrim engine. While there's no release date for the ambitious mod as of yet, fans will be excited to know that something is inbound very soon.
According to a recent tweet, the developer of the hotly-anticipated Skyblivion mod has said that gamers may be interested in keeping an eye on things, and to «tune in this Thursday.» What it refers to cannot be said, but a video attached to the tweet shows some aspects from the upcoming Oblivion rebirth project. It could well be the announcement of a launch date, or some gameplay footage, but at this stage, fans can only speculate.
New Standalone Oblivion Fan Mod Set in Hammerfell Gets Released
Updates on the mod have been few and far between, but there are many out there who will be excited to see what's coming this week. The last major news on the project was back in February, when some screenshots from Skyblivion were unveiled, which showed off the Khajiit and some dungeon interiors. According to the development team's website, as and when the mod is released, it will be completely free so long as players have a legitimate copy of the original Oblivion.
Given that it's an Elder Scrolls game, there are plenty of incredible mods for Oblivion, some of which tweak the visuals, make changes to the weapons, improve the UI, or just add more content to the world of Cyrodiil. The
