A new Sims 4 update has added the long-awaited custom pronouns feature to Create A Sim. While the already game had fairly robust customization options prior to the update, The Sims 4 does lack several features fans have often requested to be added. Custom pronoun options for character creation have been desired by many players for years, and can be finally found in the game's latest patch.
Create ASim mode, often shortened to «CAS», allows players to design Sims, customizing everything from their hair, clothes, and body shape to personality and interests. However, in the past the game has been limited by its gender identity options, offering only the cisgender pronouns assigned when a player chooses between the male or female icon. Over the past few years, The Sims 4 team has made an effort to expand upon the game's inclusivity and representation, and custom pronouns for CAS were first announced at a Sims 4 Maxis event in January of this year.

The Sims team announced a new update on Twitter that officially adds custom pronoun options to Create a Sim. The tweet mentions that the update was done in collaboration with LGBT organization GLAAD and the It Gets Better Project, a non-profit which focuses on the empowerment of LGBTQIA+ youth. Further detailed by patch notes posted to The Sims' official forum, now next to the section where players enter their Sims' names, there is a pull-down menu housing different pronoun options. By default, players can choose between "He/Him," She/Her," and "They/Them" pronouns, but custom pronoun settings can also be inputted manually by the user where they can choose different settings for different types of pronoun usage.
