Another, albeit short, State of Play is happening this week and will focus entirely on Hogwarts Legacy.
Very little has actually been shown of Hogwarts Legacy since its 2020 announcement, but Harry Potter fans are finally being thrown a bone with a new State of Play presentation.
In a PlayStation Blog post, Chandler Wood, community manager at developer Avalanche Software, explains that this State of Play will only feature Hogwarts Legacy.
It will air this Thursday, March 17 at 9pm GMT on Sony’s Twitch and YouTube channels and will run for approximately 20 minutes, promising brand-new gameplay footage captured on PlayStation 5.
With any luck, fans could see a more concrete release window be announced as well. The game was delayed from its original 2021 release date to 2022, but Warner Bros. has yet to be any more specific.
Hogwarts Legacy re-emerging at a State of Play has been speculated for a while and it does make sense considering it was announced during Sony’s big PlayStation 5 reveal. As a quick reminder, it’s still a multiplatform game and will also come to Xbox and PC as well.
Although there has still been plenty of hype surrounding Hogwarts Legacy, despite the drought of information, the game remains mired in controversy because of its ties to franchise creator J. K. Rowling.
The Harry Potter franchise as a whole appears to have become a source of toxicity due to Rowling’s various comments about transgender people. So much so that Warner Bros. has stressed that she has no direct involvement with Hogwarts Legacy.
