Xbox Game Studios and Rare released Sea of Thieves back in 2018 and the game continues to evolve through regular updates and a recently added Plunder Pass system. One feature coming to Sea of Thieves in an upcoming patch is Sea Fort raids that will expand on the PvE offerings for players who avoid PvP.
During the recent Sea of Thieves 2022 Preview Event, Rare confirmed many things coming to the action-adventure game throughout the year. This includes four seasons, Pirate Legend Voyages, Adventures, Mysteries, Pirate Emporium goodies, and Sea Forts. Sea Forts will feel familiar for long-time fans of Sea of Thieves that played the Sea of the Damned update, while they'll provide players with more activities to do whether they're new or returning.
Sea of Thieves Changes the Number of Ships Per Server
Sea of Thieves players will be able to battle Phantoms, Sea Fort Captains, and more, so they can unlock a treasury located inside the Fort to gather a plethora of rewards. Existing Sea of Thieves Forts are intended to bring together multiple Sea of Thieves crews, while Sea Forts are meant to be a personal experience for just a player or two to enjoy. There will be six Sea Forts scattered around the Sea of Thieves map with the release of Season 6 later this year, with each providing its own unique look and challenges.
There are three themes to the six Sea Forts coming to Sea of Thieves, with the Forts in the wild being prison-themed, overgrown Forts that have been abandoned, and a traditional Spanish Fort inspired by Sea of the Damned.
