Super Bowl LVI won't take place until February 13, but Variety is reporting that NBC has already sold all of the game's prime advertising real estate. As of this writing, only a «handful» of pre-game slots remain open for sale to advertisers.
«The NFL has never been stronger than has led us to new records this year. From Sunday Night Football to Football Night in America and through the nail-biting playoffs, we've seen an increased appetite for fans to watch the NFL across all our platforms,» said Mark Marshall, a president of NBCUniversal's ad-sales and partnerships division. «This multiplayer consumption has attracted even more advertisers who have the desire for the immediate scaled reach of sports.»
No doubt one of the records Marshall is referring to is the new price ceiling on Super Bowl ads--NBC is indicating some ads sold for as much as $7 million. Anything above $6 million would set a new record--many sponsors paid as much as $6.2 to $6.5 million to advertise during the game. One ad worth keeping an eye out for is actor Arnold Schwarzenegger's upcoming mystery project featuring him playing Zeus.
And if sports aren't really your thing, remember that the unstoppable duo of rapper Snoop Dogg and TV personality Martha Stewart will be hosting and coaching The Puppy Bowl on the same day. Puppy Bowl XVIII will debut on Discovery+ and Animal Planet on February 13 at 2 PM ET, and the event is intended to raise awareness for pet adoption nationwide.
