Samsung made some bold claims with the Galaxy S22’s durability factor last month. With its Armour Aluminium frame and Gorilla Glass Victus Plus glass panels, the phone is expected to survive cracks from regular drops. Our Galaxy S22 Plus took a dip on the wooden floor and came out unscathed. However, what happens when the S22 hits a pavement from waist height? One YouTube creator found this out the hard way.
PBKreviews conducted a drop test of the Galaxy S22 on the channel, showing how the phone reacts when dropped from a normal waist height. A drop on its metal frame side caused up some dents and scratches but nothing critical to the phone’s basic structure. However, it became critical when the Gorilla Glass Victus sides took the hit.
In the drop test, the Galaxy S22’s glass front and rear ended up getting cracks. This happened when the phone was dropped from the waist height. The glass shattered, as expected of any glass bodied phone. However, it was not all a bad news for the Samsung Galaxy S22 since the phone kept working without a glitch.
In fact, after repeated drops from various angles, the Galaxy S22 kept working just fine.
The sight of a shattered glass on a high-end Samsung phone isn’t comforting, especially when companies claim great durability in their build quality. Note that you can replace the glass from Samsung but that’s is going to issue a hefty repair bill on your Samsung device.
