Ryan Reynolds' next movie, Imaginary Friends, has received not only a new title, but a new release date. The film will star Reynolds in a premise not dissimilar to his 2013 action film R.I.P.D., featuring the actor as a character who has the ability to see people's imaginary friends. When he discovers that some of the friends (most likely the ones that have been left behind by people growing up and forgetting about them) have evil intentions, it's up to him to try and stop their machinations. The film is being written and directed by, as well as starring, John Krasinski, who most recently graced screens in his cameo as Reed Richards in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
The cast of Imaginary Friends, in addition to Reynolds and Krasinski, includes a host of both modern luminaries and iconic veteran performers. This includes Fleabag creator and star Phoebe Waller-Bridge (who also co-wrote the new James Bond film No Time to Die), Oscar-winner and Watchmen star Louis Gossett Jr., Killing Eve actress Fiona Shaw (who is also known for playing Aunt Petunia in Harry Potter), The Walking Dead's Judith Grimes star Cailey Fleming (who has also played Young Rey in Star Wars and Young Sylvie in Loki), and Minari star Alan S. Kim. The film will also feature a reunion between Krasinski and his former The Office co-star Steve Carell.

Per ComicBook.com, Imaginary Friends has now received a brand new title and release date. The film will now be titled If, presumably meant to be read as an acronym for «imaginary friends.» Now, instead of its original planned release date of November 17, 2023, the film will be coming to theaters on May 24, 2024.
