Lucasfilm look to be making major headway on its latest Star Wars show as creator Tony Gilroy reveals Andorseason 2 will begin filming in November. The series will act as a prequel to Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and explore the origins of Cassian Andor, the thief who would go on to become a revolutionary, join the Rebellion and help put the pieces in place to bring the Death Star down. Andor will also explore the early days of the Rebels as they quietly form to oppose the Sith-driven Galactic Empire on the rise following the devastating Order 66.
Diego Luna is returning to lead the cast of Andor in the titular role alongside fellow Star Wars vets Genevieve O'Reilly as Mon Mothma and Forest Whitaker as Saw Gerrera, as well as franchise newcomers Stellan Skarsgård, Adria Arjona, Denise Gough, Kyle Soller, Fiona Shaw, Robert Emms, David Hayman, Alex Ferns and Clemens Schick. Development on the series was announced in early 2018 as Lucasfilm began putting together projects for Disney+, including the hit first show The Mandalorian, with filming on the series running from November 2020 to September 2021. Word began swirling that Andor season 2 had been greenlit earlier this year, with the studio confirming it this past May, and now it looks like the show will be getting back to production fast.
