Netflix's Russian Doll season 2 time jump will avoid the problem of Nadia (Natasha Lyonne) and Alan (Charlie Barnett) living in two parallel (possibly merged) dimensions. Created by Natasha Lyonne, Leslye Headland, and Parks and Recreation's Amy Poehler, Russian Doll was one of the best TV series of 2019. The series followed Nadia, a game developer who finds herself caught in a time loop where she has to relive her 36th birthday each time she dies. Eventually, she meets Alan (who finds himself stuck in a loop of his own) and tracks him through her loops until they can help each other end their hellish situation.
The Russian Doll season 1 finale sees Nadia and Alan realize the world is growing less stable because of the ever-repeating loops, so they decide to finally confront their buried traumas. As Alan forgives his girlfriend and Nadia accepts that she blames herself for her mother’s death, they die again and reemerge with a newfound lust for life. But Nadia and Alan are split into two parallel realities, each having to confront and help the other's past self. Russian Doll season 1 ends with both pairs avoiding self-destruction, and they both walk into a tunnel where a parade led by Horse (Brendan Sexton III) seems to merge the two realities into one.
