The release date for the highly anticipated Russian Doll season 2 has been revealed by Netflix. The first season was released all the way back in February 2019. Created by Natasha Lyonne, Leslye Headland and Amy Poehler, the series follows Nadia (Lyonne), a game developer who finds herself stuck in a time loop reliving her thirty-sixth birthday party after being hit by a car. Stuck in a constant loop of dying over and over again, Nadia is desperate to find out how to stop what’s happening to her — and meets Alan (Charlie Barnett) along the way, quickly discovering that he is stuck in a time loop too.
Delayed during the coronavirus pandemic, filming for season 2 started in March 2021, and it was soon confirmed that Schitt’s Creek’s Annie Murphy would be joining the Russian Doll season 2 cast in an unknown role. Now, the first teaser trailer and the release date for Russian Doll season 2 has finally arrived. The teaser trailer shows a disorientated Nadja boarding the subway, with a rapid series of shots including Alan in the bath. The trailer then lingers on the door of the bathroom where Nadia found herself at the start of every loop in season 1, before confirming that season 2 will drop on Netflix on April 20, 2022.
