After a two-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the queens of RuPaul's Drag Race are ready to slay the fans with their appearances on RuPaul's DragCon 2022 held in Los Angeles. A full-blown convention celebrating drag artists and the artistry of drag was kicked off in 2015 with the first-ever RuPaul's DragCon in LA. The event expanded even further in 2016, and it kept growing more and more throughout the years. In 2017, DragCon was brought to New York City as well.
As of 2018, RuPaul's DragCon in Los Angeles and New York City attracted as many as 100,000 visitors and brought in $8 million in profits (via THR). Like other pop culture conventions dedicated to superheroes, comic books, movies, and TV shows, DragCon has earned its place as a pivotal event for LGBTQIA+ artists attached to the RuPaul universe of drag-centric shows. In 2022, a record-breaking number of RuPaul's Drag Race seasons and spin-offs are set to air on TV around the world.

The first-ever RuPaul's DragCon UK was held in January 2020. Alas, DragCon 2020 in LA and NYC were canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Instead, a special edition of Digital DragCon was held for fans to attend online. Considering that the pandemic was still in full effect in 2021, DragCon events weren't held in Los Angeles nor in New York City. Now that things are slowly getting better, DragCon is back in full effect for a 2022 edition in Los Angeles.
