Rockstar veterans Lazlow Jones and Michael Unsworth are working alongside Dan Houser at Absurd Ventures, it’s been revealed.
Having co-founded Rockstar in 1998, Houser left in early 2020 before announcing his latest venture, transmedia firm Absurd, earlier this year.
It’s now transpired that Jones, who left Rockstar in late 2020 after 19 years at the company, joined Absurd the following June as one of its founding members.
As co-chair of Rockstar’s production department, Jones was previously responsible for in-game creative audio and video content.
He’s perhaps best known for producing the dialogue for Grand Theft Auto’s characters and satirical radio stations, as well as appearing in the series.
A more recent hire at Absurd is former Red Dead Redemption series writer Unsworth, who left Rockstar this summer after 16 years at the company.
As spotted by BeGeek, he joined Absurd in October as its head of story and creative management.
The former writing director worked on virtually all of Rockstar’s major releases during his time at the company.
Notably, he’s one of only three writers credited for both Red Dead Redemption games’ stories (alongside Houser).
Unsworth is also credited for dialogue writing in GTA 4, GTA 5, Max Payne 3, LA Noire, Midnight Club: Los Angeles and more.
According to the careers section of Absurd Ventures’ website, the company is involved in the creation of games, film and TV, animated series, audio fiction, and comics/graphic novels.
“We are building Absurd Ventures to create new universes and to tell great stories, wherever and however we can,” Houser said in June.
