Rob Zombie shared a photo of a creepy castle that will be a filming location for his upcoming film The Munsters. Although the project is still horror-related, it will be the lightest tone the director has ever tackled. Zombie, who is best known for his music career and participation in the heavy metal band White Zombie, began directing films with 2003's House of 1,000 Corpses. That film's over-the-top and gruesome atmosphere has carried through his other work, including the 2007 Halloween remake and its sequel, all the way to his latest film, 2019's 3 from Hell.
The Munsters will be his second time tackling a reboot of a classic franchise, this time the classic sitcom of the same name that originally ran from 1964 to 1966, which tells the story of a family of monsters living in suburbia. The show was previously rebooted on television as The Munsters Today, which ran for three seasons starting in 1988. That was followed by several failed reboot attempts, including an NBC remake titled Mockingbird Lane from Pushing Daisies creator Bryan Fuller, a Seth Myers-produced series, and a movie from the Wayans brothers. This new Rob Zombie adaptation of The Munsters will be a feature film set to debut simultaneously in theaters and on NBC-Universal's streaming service Peacock.
