Rob Zombie revealed a new look at Herman and Lily in his upcoming film reboot of The Munsters. The filmmaker, known for his work in the horror genre, confirmed his involvement with the project last year and shared that he is a fan of the original 1960s television sitcom of the same name. Written and directed by Zombie, The Munsters will be a dark comedy focusing on a family of monsters, including vampires, a werewolf, and Frankenstein's creature, who relocate from Transylvania to the American suburb of Mockingbird Heights. Construction of Mockingbird Lane and the family's home began shortly after the film was announced, with the cast of Sheri Moon Zombie, Jeff Daniel Phillips, Daniel Roebuck, Evan Rachel Wood, Jacob Tremblay, and Richard Brake being revealed later.
Ahead of The Munsters' release, Zombie has managed to document much of the production process on social media, offering fans of his and the source material a behind-the-scenes look at its progress. Herman Munster, the patriarch resembling Frankenstein's creature, is played by Phillips, while the vampire matriarch, Lily Munster, is portrayed by Zombie's wife, Sheri. The first sneak peek at both characters came in July when the director shared images of the pairs' wardrobe designs, but it was not until October that fans got to see the first photo of Phillips and Zombie in costume. Since then, multiple other updates have been given, each revealing a bit more about the appearance of Herman and Lily.
