Despite previous statements by various actors and a number of rumors, Riverdale isn't ending any time, according to the showrunner. As The CW is primarily known as the home of multiple DC TV shows, it's also the host for the Archie Comics universe through Riverdale. After an extensive hiatus, Riverdale season 6 recently resumed its run on The CW, continuing the show's latest mysteries. Unlike previous seasons, Riverdale took a page out of The Flash season 8's book by doing a special 5-part event titled Rivervale, which introduced the concept of alternative universes into the so-called Archieverse.
The back half of Riverdale season 6 focuses on the aftermath of the fifth season, including Betty and Archie discovering that they now have super powers. With still multiple episodes left to air, fans are curious what the future looks like forRiverdale, as The CW has yet to renew it for a seventh season. However, speculation has sparked that the Archie Comics drama may be getting closer to reaching its end. During Riverdale's last hiatus, actors like Cole Sprouse, Lili Reinhart, and Camila Mendes have spoken about that possibility. In December 2021, Sprouse brought up the fact that many of the leads' contracts will be up after a potential Riverdale season 7.
