A new Resident Evil 4 remake voice mod that is now available online shows how far AI has come to provide voice acting that is very close to actual voicework.
The Ada Wong Voice Replacement mod, which can be downloaded from Nexus Mods, replaces the new voice acting for the iconic character with an AI generated voice that not only sounds closer to Ada's original voice from previous entries in the series but also almost doesn't sound AI generated at all. While the delivery is wonky at some points, it would be hard to tell this is an AI-generated voice without knowing it actually is, as showcased in the video below.
The end of the main campaign of the Resident Evil 4 remake isn't the last that we have seen of Ada Wong, as CAPCOM is rumored to be working on the Separate Ways DLC, which will introduce an additional story scenario starring the character. According to some other rumors, this DLC won't take as long as the Resident Evil Village expansion to come out, as development started before the base game even released.
Despite CAPCOM playing it a little too safe, and some mechanical issues, the Resident Evil 4 remake is undoubtedly among the best games ever put out by the Japanese developer, updating the iconic entry in the popular survival horror series in some great ways, as highlighted by Nathan in his review.
The Resident Evil 4 remake is now available on PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S worldwide.
