Since being rebooted in 2017, and having some of the classics remade over the past few years, the Resident Evil series is enjoying something of a boon. Even the remake of Resident Evil 3 is pretty good, though it fell short of its predecessor for many. It may have dropped much of the survival aspects, but fans agree that it's still a fantastic third-person shooter with a dedicated community. One of the things that makes the overall franchise so popular is its host of memorable characters, and sometimes the games could stand to incorporate some of the best.
That's where modder Chiarav1 comes into the picture. A recent add-on for Resident Evil 3 has reinstated Chris Redfield, in which his character model takes the place of Carlos Oliveira. Nothing else appears to have been changed in terms of gameplay or story, just that Chris is now the one helping out Jill. The description on Nexus Mods says that the creator was given the idea by a friend of theirs. It also seems as though it's still a work in progress, as there may be some notable bugs related to clipping issues and facial animations. However, it also says that it sadly isn't compatible with the game's latest update.
Resident Evil 2, 3, and 7 Can Now Be Rolled Back To Previous Gen
Alongside Leon Kennedy, Chris Redfield is one of the most well-known Resident Evil characters, starting life as one of the playable heroes in the first game all the way back in 1996. Since then, he's been in numerous installments, including Code Veronica, the lackluster fifth and sixth entries, right up to Village. Seeing him make an appearance in Resident Evil 3 Remake may not make sense canonically, but it's a nice bit of fan service for those who simply can't get enough of the S.T.A.R.S.
